Maddy called me yesterday..
So Maddy gave me a birthday phone call yesterday, and she only has 3 weeks left to go in Panama. She said she had mixed emotions about the experience so far, as her Spanish in the beginning was horrible, but she has picked it up. She also said that her house-mate (other volunteer that is) is unbearable. And you all know Maddy can put up with a lot, but she said this girl was on the verge of getting sent home - for being culturally insensitive. Anyways, she says she can put up with it for another 3 weeks. Other than that, she was stoked on making some new friends (over the age of 14) because she is isolated, and all the kids in high school live in the city during the week. So essentially, until a couple of weeks ago, she had few friends within close age (by close i mean within 5 years up or down). Other than that she says she is doing well. Yup. Just thought I'd pass that along to you all. I hope all is well with all of you!

Update
Hello All,
It's been a little while since I have posted and felt like it was a good time to update all of you.
Compared to May, June has been fast paced and entertaining.
Fun:
My weekends have been good. I've been able to go surfing and downhill mountain biking wich is awesome. The surf was pretty bad when I went. My dad tried to surf too. It was fun.
The following weekend I went up to my condo in NH to go mtbking for Father's day. My dad had fun, I had fun, it was fun. I should be going this weekend with Guillaume and THE CHAMP. It's going to be epic.
Party:
My sisters have had lots of parties lately since they are both done school. UNfortunately being the only sibling with a license I am often "the mom". I take them there, watch everyone get drunk, and take them home. Its still lots of fun to hang out with peeps from my school. Yesterday was the last party at my friends Thomas house. It was fairly low key and a bit sad since we won't be seeing any of them for a long time. I have also been able to observe my sister Mo under the influence of the crunk juice and have come to the conclusion that she is a very lightweight. I'm already worried for Frosh. MO GUY if you have her be nice hehe.
Family:
My parents are doing well, my youngest sister is happy to be done school and can't wait for France (she leave monday?) and my older sister is very happy to have graduated. She passed her BAC ES two weeks ago and pwned my scores. Her entire class did very well. She also got some special international award thing. I'm proud of her and glad she is coming up to McGill next year.
Job:
My job is going well, the project that we are working on is moving forward and we are starting to get interesting results. I have to write up some sort of scientific document this weekend that they intend to put in their grant. I'm quite stoked on that.
Overall I'm quite happy. I can't wait to go to Argentina. I leave the 4th of July and will be staying in Buenos Aires with some friends for three days and then I'll be heading out to Bariloche for 4 weeks of pure awesomeness.
I hope that all of you are doing well and hope to keep getting news from you guys.
I'm looking forward to the end of august and seeing all of you.

My Summer Thus Far
So ya I deleted facebook everyone if you haven't noticed which makes my life a whole more drama free but also prevents me from staying in touch as much as I ought to. My e-mail is mreed2289@gmail.com, and my IM is relativesanity88 so I can be reached throught those if you want.
The summer midpoint is fast approaching which scares the shit out of me. I have done nothing yet. I mean, I have been babysitting and occasionally doing some office work for Cheap Sumer Help, but besides that my life consists of reading, going to the gym, and hanging out with friends during the evenings. Doesn't sound bad, and it wasn't at first, but I am so freaking antsy it is beginning to drive me crazy. It doesn't help that most of you guys are having awesome adventures and I am stuck in this podunk town.
The only reason I came home this summer was to work and be with Kevin, and neither have happened yet. My job starts (finally) on Saturday, which is nice and will give me some routine. It is a waitressing job that I landed probably three weeks ago, but its for a new restaurant and the construction kept falling behind schedule, postponing my training. I told them I wanted to work 25-30 hours a week, so hopefully over two months that will add up. I have ample money saved, so I really don't need a whole lot, but I am planning on doing a (probably unpaid) internship next summer so I need extra.
On the Kevin front... well we broke up. I'm not going to pour my heart out here but even though it was probably for the best it sucks ass, has ruined so many of my summer plans and aspirations, and has left a huge void in my life, which only emphasizes the fact that I have been a bum so far this summer. We haven't talked in two weeks and it is kind of killing me, but I'll get through it.
My family is coming up from Miami on Thursday and my sister and Nana are visiting from Connecticut as well, and it will be really nice to see everyone together. Also it means everyone will be around for my birthday which will be a first. I'll probably do stuff (get drunk) Saturday night with friends and then spend Sunday with family. I normally spend birthdays with Kevin so I am really grateful I will have a house full of family to distract me.
Otherwise life is boring, I went to the beach once, took a trip to Montreal by myself just to clear my mind a little, and helped my Mom move into her summer cottage sh just got in Maine.
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying themselves and the sun!
SENGA - Your trip sounds amazing, I have been to Portugal and stayed in both Lisbon and the Algarve and both are beautiful; I hope your adventures only get better!
ALICE - I love you tons, I hope your Mumsy is doing better
MO GIRL - I doubt you read this but if you do I love you and happy birthday and I will shoot you an e-mail as soon as I get your address!
SEB - I hope you've been finding things to do, its going to be a lot of family time this week but maybe next we can find a time to hang out
MO - I just saw you, and thanks for the VT hospitality
NICK - Thats sick about frisbee, looking forward to your other posts
MADDY - If and when you get a chance to read this know I hope your jungle excursions have been phenomenal!

Yo

Yo. A lot has been going on in my life. Sorry for not keeping you guys updated. Going to do a 3 post thing.
Frisbee
Been playing on Tuesdays with the Nashville men’s team, they have gotten way better but aren’t a nationals level team so my friend Markham (southwest freshman of the year) and two of our friends at Davidson are starting a men’s club team to play in the series with. If we can get the numbers we are expecting, we should have a shot at the backdoor game to go in the South Region. It’s tight. We are going to be a sky patrol team.
Last weekend was Poultry Days – one of the (if not the) most legit tournaments each year. It’s located in Versailles (pronounced Ver-sails) Ohio, which is in the middle of nowhere. 48 Teams this year, tons of ballers, Callahan winners, world’s players, etc. 6 of us carpooled up Friday afternoon, stayed in a hotel b/c it was stormy, (got some sweet big spoon [still good] action with a supa fine lady, she has a boyfriend … lame) and then we played 5 games on Saturday. And we fucking rolled. Games to 11, no one scored more than six points on us. One of the teams (Breast and Thighs) had two guys who had made the US Worlds team and were at the tryout and I fucking them the whole game, it was disgusting. Party Saturday Night, beerfriz and many other drinking games, my brother ended up basically begging his way into a girl’s tent. Sunday we won our prequarters game, and then were up against a team of ballers (Chain Lightning/Ozone combination team, lots of guys from Georgia/ATL) Chain and Ozone both got top eight at Nationals. We went up early on them (I played d-line mainly) and we got 3 breaks, to get a 3-1 lead. They came back strong and screwed our o-team, and then the score was
9-7 them. We finally converted on O, and then the D-line rolled. At 12-11 us I got a clutch d, and then we scored of a deep huck to Markham. We skied bitches so much that game. I fucking hate those chumps, and we pwned them.
Basically all our old handler guys mailed it in (gave up, were content with semi’s finish) during the semi-finals game and had a horrible completion rate (even though we got three breaks of the bat making it 3-1 us again in the semis). Still I had some awesome catches, d’s, etc. I was so psyched with our team, tying for 3rd out of 48 not bad. We are going to roll this fall in the club series.
Anyways it was a sick tournament, the chicken dinner was delicious (they sell like 30,000 it’s a huge festival, Miss Chick competition, carival, etc.)
P.S. I got sunburned badly, but whatevs, I took a picture with the computer but it doesn’t do the farmer’s tan (redneck/etc.) justice. Oh yeah, and you probably will notice I shaved my head for the first time in my life.
P.S.S. Two more posts coming sometime tomorrow probably while at work.

last night
hey guys,
last night i was biking from a friends house around 1230 am. i was biking on one of the main roads with my rear red blinker light on so people could see me. i was hit from behind by a car which took off after the incident. like literally the front of the car destroyed my rear wheel. i was thrown off my bike and tumbled on the pavement. i thought i was going to black out, started seeing stars and felt dizzy. i waved another car down to stay with me so i didnt lose consciousness. i called my parents and then 911 which arrived in like 1 min while i was calling. they took me to the ER because i was concerned of having a concussion or something worse. i recieved road rash on both of my hands, left knee and both elbows as well as my back. I also got 4 staples in my head from 2 small head wounds. my whole body feels fucking sore as hell right now. i spent about 2 hrs in the ER getting patched up (most of it was for waiting though) and then another hour at the police station to testify. the car and its driver have not been found yet.
I'm alright though, no concussion, nothing broken, no internal damage. i'm just bruised and sore, really sore. which is fucking lucky. i didnt wear a helmet and got hit by the car going like 40 mph from the back. it could have been a whole lot worse.
please be careful when you are biking/driving/walking at night. wear a helmet if you bike.
and getting staples in your head feels soooo weird. its like a small section of my head is a little tighter together. atleast they come out in 7-10 days.
later kids
edit: by request of alice, here are some pictures of my injuries...couldnt get the staples in my head though..

weekend
sup fools,
just got back from a weekend in boston, which was sooooo amazing. i got to see seb and maia in their respective habitats. It was also sebs bday on saturday so we had some sweet brazillian food and went Gokart racing the next day.
on saturday i arrived at maias house which was in the woods in carlisle sp?. her family is super nice, seb and i even got served breakfast on a tray by Glenn (maias dad) the next day. wow I am punctuating weird...oh well. maia showed me around her town which was super small but nice. next the both of us drove to sebs house where we chilled for a little and then went out and had dins. sebs dad is a like a kid, its hilarious and has the same smile as seb does. after brazillian food we went to a party at one of maias friends houses. we some some people we knew like jack and peter and played some ruit...we even held the table for 4 games (thats me and seb, my first game i played with maia and we sucked :p)
the next day maia had to go babysitting from 10-2, so seb and I hung out at Reed mansion, cleaened the pool which had a dead shrew in it, did some wicked flips into the pool and watched some tv. shaun of the dead is a funny movie, and seb put on this car mechanics show for a while... we then went out to SORENTO'S which had spicy finger pizza, which is basically pizza with buffalo wing bits on it and sauce. its delicious. we then waited for maia to get back and i took the kids back to sebs house, where we then went from to go gokarting, hwihc was mad fun and I obviously won the race, some people (maia and seb) might dispute this, but trust me, I kicked their asses... after gokart we went back to sebs for dins and then i drove maia home. after some halo i crashed in maddys bed (sebs sister).
today i went to the german consulate in boston to get my passport renewed and then drove home. just took a nap and now i am bored again so I am writing this. it might've been a little boring to read but w/e... thanks again maia and seb you guys were super nice and i loved both of your families...roadtrip up to vermont soooooon!
oh and i might go up to mtl next weekend to see death cab for cutie, which should be awesome.

And I'm Out...
So I leave tomorrow (Thursday), and probably won't get a chance to say goodbye to all of you another way. Hope you all have a sweet June!
In Alphabetical Order
- Alice - I hope you find a job that you love. If you don't tough it out, and I'm sure you will not only do well at it, but it will make you stronger. Don't give up!
- Maddy - have a great time in Panama! (No amorous connections/suggestive clothing strictly enforced!)
- Maia - Have a killer time in MASS, see as many obscure bands as you can, and then go tell everyone how they have never heard your music. JUST KIDDING. But actually have a sweet time with Kevin, the family, your friends, shrooms, etc. and make sure you do what YOU. "CUZ I DO WHAT I WANT! I KILL BABY SEALS!" Go kill some baby seals. You know what I mean.
- Mo (Girl) - Continue having a sick time in Alaska, and since you don't read this anyways, go kill a polar bear for me! JK. Just make sure to see one, its a good conversation starter.
- Mo (Guy) - Quit with all your "binge" drinking and start having some good clean fun! I've heard your working as a line cook, and I hope you give all these people the same benefits you would give yourself (as little broth, extra veggies, etc.). Get ready for ball next year! (PS. Bean is cut.)
- Nick - I really enjoy this Facecard idea, but it doesn't work in Canada. Its okay, us Canadians are used to it by now. But actually, that's cool that you get to work with a company so closely tied to Facebook apps. Very cool. Sad you are not coming back, but such is life, and I hope you get into the school you want. Also, you must visit sometime after August 21st to the start of school so we can do one last Montreal night out properly.
- Sebastien (In a drunken French Accent) - I hope that you get what you wanted to out of the lab - besides your paycheque that is. Hope you have a good time, and if I don't talk to you before then, a great time at SASS. When you come back you have to be able to STOMP 7's. Or else. Preferably 9's though. Also you have to learn those front-flip while riding things. We all know those are the coolest - and not to mention hardest tricks. LOL.
Anyways I hope you all have a GREAT June, and that you all are well! And make sure to check in on my blog, I will post here when I update it...like now!An update at:www.sengara.wordpress.comAnd I'm out!!! PEACE!

Stuff
Colleges - Accepted Colorado's offer. Waitlisted at Pomona and McKenna (sent them both packets of accept me! things). Pomona had 200 applicants and 10 slots. Anyhow, now I just start waiting again. I would rather be in California, but I keep hearing good things about Colorado College. I'm sad that I won't be with you guys again next year. I was in Montreal in one of my dreams the other day, and it wasn't anything like the real Montreal, but it was really nice. So I'm going to have to visit. We should plan a party for after Senga's exam or something maybe.
Job - it's okay. I like what I get to do with photoshop and illustrator designing stuff, but I think they need to change one or two things.
Ultimate - Really like my summer league team, we owned in our first game, and on the second I got a handblock on the endzone line on universe point (one of the sweetest things ever) and I have been out throwing every single day.
Beer Pong last night - I was actually good! Impossible to believe I know. But a couple tips from a friend and I was sinking them like Kobe in the 3rd period against the Spurs. Seriously, we lost our first game, then we went on a 7 game winning streak before calling it quits. Anyhow I was hungover as hell at work and said I was going out to sign my friends up so that I could leave at 1130 and sleep.
I need to post more, but that's that. My brother got a C- in precal also! He was going to have to go to summer school but got an A on the exam.

"I feel summer creepin' in and I'm tired of this town again"
Oh Carlisle... its nice to be in familiar territory, but I am still bored as shit being here. My job at Cheap Summer Help keeps getting pushed back so it looks like I am starting in Mid-June, which I am pissed about because I wasted a whole month here. After my boss finally contacted me and told me this I started applying to places to be a waitress/hostess so hopefully one will work out. I can set my own hours with CSH so I will be able to do two jobs pretty comfortably, and if not, I will just quit wherever I make less money. Its not even that I need money badly, I am just someone who needs things to do. I have been sitting around reading, playing guitar, watching Lost, and tanning when its nice, which sounds fun, but not for three weeks straight. I can hang with my friends but usually only at night, and some people still aren't back. Kevin finally came home yesterday which is nice and will give me something else to do (no pun intended, I know what you are thinking) and tonight we are going to see The New Deal which is an electro band out of Montreal.
Last week Seb visited which was fun. We had thai food and kimball's ice cream, and I took him to a party where my friends played land mines and he got pretty drunk and made me laugh because I was the sober driver. On Sunday Emily Frank is coming to town and we will probably have dinner with her which I am excited about.
Girl Mo - I hope alaska treats you amazingly!!!
Alice - Good luck running the company, that sounds like hard work, and I hope you find out what is afflicting your Mom soon so she can be all better
Everyone else WORD TO YO MOTHA

To all you future mothers out there
Yeah I know, we probably won't have kids for at least another 8 years but still some important information:
"The largest randomized study of breastfeeding ever conducted reports that breastfeeding raises children’s IQs and improves their academic performance, a McGill researcher and his team have found.
In an article titled, Breastfeeding and Child Cognitive Development, published in the current issue of the Archives of General Psychiatry, Dr. Michael S. Kramer, Scientific Director of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (IHDCYH), reports the results from following the same group of 14,000 children for 6.5 years.
"Our study provides the strongest evidence to date that prolonged and exclusive breastfeeding makes kids smarter," said Kramer, a Professor of Pediatrics and of Epidemiology & Biostatistics in the McGill University Faculty of Medicine and lead investigator in the study.
Kramer and his colleagues evaluated the children in 31 Belarusian hospitals and clinics. Half the mothers were exposed to an intervention that encouraged prolonged and exclusive breastfeeding. The remaining half continued their usual maternity hospital and outpatient pediatric care and follow-up. This allowed the researchers to measure the effect of breastfeeding on the children’s cognitive development without the results being biased by differences in factors such as the mother’s intelligence or her way of interacting with her baby.
The children’s cognitive ability was assessed by IQ tests administered by the children’s pediatricians and by their teachers’ ratings of their academic performance in reading, writing, mathematics and other subjects. Both sets of measures were significantly higher in the group randomized to the breastfeeding promotion intervention.
"The effect of breastfeeding on brain development and intelligence has long been a popular and hotly debated topic,” says Dr. Kramer. "While most studies have been based on association, however, we can now make a causal inference between breastfeeding and intelligence – because of the randomized design of our study.”
The study was funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research."

My OWN Blog.
Since I have friends outside this circle (hard to believe, I know) I created a separate Travel Blog to update all you clowns with.
www.sengara.wordpress.com
It's kinda legit, its not a porno site - at least until I post my pictures from the trip. LOL ROFL LMFAO. Yeah that's right. So yeah.
Visit the site!
Other than that Vancity's weather is nice, but I am uber-stoked to get out of here. Its nice to be around the family, but I cannot simply be sucked into the depressing quicksand that is my Grandmother's house. My mother hasn't slept at home once. I have been out there everyday. I can't explain to you guys through a blog how weird it is. I see nobody, this place fucking sucks. I need to do my own thing for a while. I leave May 29th, and come home July 3rd. Indeed.
Hope all of you are doing well, at whatever it is all of you are doing, and I hope you all are happy above anything else!!
PEACE OUT. (A-Town) [Yes that is a "YEAH!" reference for those of you keeping score at home. Chalk it up!]
And a big shout out to MOMO (BRI) have a great time in ALASKA!! WHAT WHAT!

hardwick
so like the good vermont hicks that we are, we have friends that have farms. ethan is one of those kids. on his farm, he has a shitton of field where he has a leanto (sp?) its basically a shack with three walls and a roof. we go "camping" there sometimes. when we first started drinking thats where it would be. make a fire, have some brews, talk about life.
thats what i did last night. it was a chill night, just my guy friends around a fire getting drunk and high. hah so i went to bed around 12 ish after making some phone calls that maia and alice should know about. this is where it gets interesting, apparently after i went to bed, I got up like 30 min later and wanted to go pee. I get out my tent that i brought up, stumble to some bushes and appaerntly just pass the fuck out. like fall down, in the middle of the grass and start snoring.
my friends find me, pick me up and cant wake me. so they drag me to my tent and put me back in. now, I wake up again an hour later actually having to go pee. i get out, my friends rush towards me and hold me up because i was so drunk i couldnt walk straight or even stand up. kevin grabs me from behind while i piss, then puke basically everything that was left in my stomach.
haha they tell me the story about how i passed out and i couldnt believe it. so i just chill by the fire with them for a hwile and then go back to bed. great night, first time i actually needed help from someone. never needed to be taken care of, but thats what friends are for hah.
the weird thing is that i only had like 9 beers from about 6pm to 12 am and was eating constantly. I dont know how I got so drunk and could just pass out, but i suspect taking zyrtec, which is some alergy medicine had something to do with it.
so long story short, I drank and passed out for a couple hours. now i'm goin to bed because i still feel like shit.
